Moving On and Moving Out

Well here I am again, moving, yep, again....At least this time its to a place I really want to go.  Last Spring we sold our house (not exactly wanting to, but we were being obedient to what we knew God was telling us to do) and moved into a VERY small townhome.  You see God had told us to move, but He hadn't yet, supplied the where, so we moved whole lot of stuff in storage, and moved down the street.  We did it ourselves, and by that I mean, our wonderful friends and neighbors helped, ALOT, and we rented a UHAUL truck.

We lived in the townhome for about two months, when God supplied the where and the how.  DH got a new job in our home state, Texas.  It wasn't exactly in the spot we were hoping (DFW), but we've grown to love our new home base.  The catch?  He would start in 4 weeks, and that wasn't enough time to find and buy a  home, what's a girl to do?  Move to ANOTHER temporary spot, this time a house, and guarantee we'd move again.  Let me tell you, that, was a difficult decision, moving is hard, moving with kids is harder, and moving across the country, yep harder still.  At least the move from Missouri to Texas was organized and paid for by the new company, so all I had to do was supervise the packing and loading that time, as well as the unloading at our rent house.

So here we are about 9 months post move to Texas, we've had funerals, weddings, births, deaths, and whole lotta living.  A new me types this, I've changed a bunch this year, some good some bad, but definitely different.  I would never have described myself as laid back, nope I would've said I was the opposite, hostile even.  Now?Yep that's me, maybe it's the Austin weirdness rubbing off, cause ?CHILL? that's me, now.  I've also found myself becoming more compassionate, and well that's not exactly me either, but that's for another post!

So five weeks from our move, what have I done?  First I went to craigslist, cause boxes are pricey and you can get used ones for free or a very cheap price.  I also found this place near us called Econobox, they sell boxes and other packing material used and new, super cheap!  I've taken down and packed all our pictures on the walls, makes our house look very bare, but we can def live without them for a few weeks, it's a good starting place.  I've also packed up all the photo-albums (not the kids baby books, I keep their shot records in those, I may need them), as well as all our old BSF notebooks and the like.  We don't need them until August at the earliest.  I've also packed away any extra paper, mailing labels, stuff like that, I know I won't be hosting any baby/bridal showers until after the move.  I've also gotten the boys help this time.  They weren't all that involved in our previous moves, but I'm not the only one changing this year, and they are willing, in fact they really enjoy, packing.  I think having them help really helps them too, as moving is kinda traumatic, though my guys are seasoned veterans.  They've moved more in the past 5 years, than I did in my 18 years living at home.

I also will be calling and getting estimates on moving us this week.  We have opted for boxing ourselves (that saves tons of $$) and having the pros do the heavy lifting this time.  So we don't have to worry about renting a truck and enlisting friends to help this time.

Next week I'll post what I've done, I'm thinking I should write a book, "Moving with kids, across the nation, but not into the nuthouse"  What do you think? ;-)
